Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” To be sure, once Niy’asha Myers intersects your orbit at RSIA, students and teachers will connect this quote with our 8th grade nominee. This extraordinary young lady exhibits heartfelt empathy and kindness as naturally as breathing. She is a beacon of light at RSIA. Daily Niy’asha emits the essence of friendship before greetings can be exchanged. Her countenance, interactions and deportment with teachers, peers and administrators are testaments to her connectedness with others. Whether Niy’asha is in the classroom, media center, cafeteria, transitioning between classes, or mingling with her peers, she intuitively nurtures relationships. She is that person who lends a helping hand instinctively. Niy’asha possesses the innate ability to reach out and touch others with her heart. She is a good listener, trust-worthy with others, a collaborative team member, and dependable. Attributes to be admired at any age. The essential traits of friendship and kindness, we all know them when we see them – personified in Niy’asha Myers.
