Hello My Name Is...

Dr. JacQueline E. Lawton

JacQueline E. Lawton, Ph. D

I am a Highly Qualified (HQ) teacher with certification in Elementary Education and School Administration. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Administration and Supervision. This is my 22nd year teaching and my 5th year back at Robert Smalls International Academy. I began my teaching career here in 1995 before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. My goal is to help students develop a love for learning and to be a catalyst for change in their communities. I want our students to become well-spoken, well-educated and well-prepared members of society. My passion is to enhance and improve the community I grew up in and to pass on my love for Beaufort to my students. I believe that all children can learn and can be successful if they have the love and support of the people in their community. I am an active participant in the preservation of Gullah History through song and theater, as a performer with Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk. I serve in various capacities at Lighthouse Christian Center and I hold various offices on the local and National level as a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I consider myself the epitome of my mantra “Don’t Talk About It, Be About It!”
