Hello My Name Is...

Sara Jodon

M.A.T. Middle Level Education: Language Arts and Social Studies from Georgia State University

B.A. Interdisciplinary Social Sciences: Communication Studies and Interpreting from University of South Florida

I joined the RSIA team last April, and I am thrilled to return this fall to teach 7th grade ELA! Before moving to Beaufort County, I taught 6th-8th grade ELA, 3rd-5th grade Latin, and high school American Sign Language in Atlanta. I also had the opportunity to teach ASL at Georgia State University for two years, but teaching middle school is my favorite. I love to design lessons that teach students how to think critically and creatively. We work together as a class to find meaning in complex and varied texts, build and defend arguments, connect our reading to current events, and understand our roles as global citizens.  It’s my goal to help students develop a confident sense of self while fostering strong reading and writing skills and a love of learning.
