Chauntee Hutchins

Hi! My name is Chauntee Hutchins and I love teaching!  I am humorous, creative, energetic, loving, and a life-long learner.  I’m also a mother and proud parent to an amazing 13 year old son.

I was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, then moved to the small town of Bowman, where I was raised with two older sisters and a younger brother. My family moved to Hampton County when I was 12 years old where we resided for many years before moving to Beaufort County.   I’ve been in Beaufort for 11 years and I absolutely love it! Although Beaufort is growing, it still has that small town feeling I love.

I come from a long line of educators.  My grandmother worked as an assistant in the Orangeburg County public schools for 20 years.  My mother recently retired after almost 40 years of service in the Orangeburg County, Hampton County, and Beaufort County public schools.    And my sister currently teaches high school English, and has for over 20 years.  You could say that teaching is in my blood.

I enrolled at USCB in Beaufort, South Carolina to reclaim my heart’s desire to teach. After  graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education,  I was employed with the BCSD for two and a half years before landing my first job at Robert Smalls International Academy.  This is my fourth year at RSIA.  I am currently teaching Pre-K, but taught 3rd grade for three years prior to my current position.

I am convinced that the 2017-2018 school year is going to be one of the most exciting years at RSIA!  I am ecstatic about my new students and hope to give them a positive perception to learning. My goal is to impart to my students an eagerness to learn, so that they may become life-long learners who are always moving towards every opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the world around them.
